Earlier this month Ewan, a 2nd year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Bath, ran the Bath Half Marathon in 7 minutes under his target of 2h 30mins – even more impressive is that it was his first! Ewan’s Bath Half Marathon run was inspired by his mum who, in 2020, experienced a ‘massive jolt of pain in the side of her face’. In A&E she experienced the all too familiar scenario of no one knowing what the problem was. Even Ewan’s mum, a nurse herself, had never heard of TN.
He very kindly chose us at TNA UK as his charity to raise sponsorship for, and we’re very grateful to him.
Helping us raise awareness amongst medical professionals drove him. Ewan says “Before signing up for the Bath Half Marathon, I had barely run and struggled to do a 5K. Fundraising for TNA and having an end goal motivated me to keep training and improving. Even though I am very much still a beginner, I have improved and I am planning to keep it up.”
Ewan shares a strong passion for education with his family and started searching for information about TN. This is when the TNA UK came into their lives and he found reliable information on our website.
Ewan’s Bath Half Marathon was run through the UK’s only World Heritage City. It is the largest charity fundraising event in the South West of England.
Since her diagnosis, his mum has now received successful Microvascular Decompression (MVD) surgery. We wish Ewan’s mum continued good health and look forward to hearing about Ewan’s running progress!
