Matthew Rutterford’s 2024 London Marathon Effort for Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness

Matthew Rutterford is set to run in the 2024 London Marathon, driven by a deeply personal cause. His father, known as ‘Big Norm’, has been battling Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) for over ten years. Witnessing his father’s struggle, Matthew is motivated to raise both funds and awareness for Trigeminal Neuralgia through his marathon effort. His goal is to support the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK (TNA UK) and to enhance public understanding of TN, emphasising the critical need for research and a stronger support network for those affected.

Matthew states, “Every pound raised is a step towards a breakthrough in TN treatment. It’s about showing those suffering that they’re not alone. Your support can change lives.”

He encourages community sponsorship and aims to broaden awareness of TN’s impact on patients and their families, underscoring the importance of research for better treatments.

TNA UK plays a crucial role in supporting TN sufferers by providing information, advocacy, and a sense of community. Matthew’s marathon contributions are vital for enabling TNA UK to continue its important work in research funding and support.

Matthew’s participation symbolises a call to action for increased awareness and support for Trigeminal Neuralgia, making a tangible difference in the lives of those afflicted.

New Hertfordshire Support Group for Trigeminal Neuralgia

A new support group for individuals with Trigeminal Neuralgia in Hertfordshire and nearby areas, led by Sam Woodrow. This group offers a space for sharing experiences and mutual support.

Sam, living in Bushey with her family, has dealt with Trigeminal Neuralgia for 12 years. Despite facing numerous daily attacks, she’s found ways to manage her condition, thanks in part to support from the TNA. Now, she’s keen to help others by starting this regional group.

The inaugural meeting is on Wednesday, 20th March, at 7 pm via Zoom. It’s a chance for people to connect and support each other, with the option to bring a family member. If you’d like to join but prefer listening, please inform Sam ahead of time.

This initiative is a valuable addition to our community, offering a platform for shared support and engagement.
