Aneeta Prem CEO Update Easter 2022

Dear Members and Friends

I do hope that you are all well. For those of you who have contracted Covid and for those who are still suffering with the effects of this virus on top of your TN pain, we are all thinking of you and sending you our very best wishes for a full recovery.

Easter is a time for hope and new beginning. My sincere hope is that you may become pain free and experience remission.

The National Zoom is going to be held on Thursday 28th April @ 7.30pm.

Due to an overwhelming number of requests, Mr Sinan Barazi will be back!

Mr Sinan Barazi. Consultant Neurosurgeon FRCS (Neurol.Surgery), MRCSEd, B.Sc., MB BS

Volunteering Opportunities

If you have some time on your hands and feel able to volunteer for TNA, there are a variety of roles where your help would be so valuable:

• running a Regional Support Group in your area.

• helping on the TNA telephone or email helpline.

• helping with social media – writing content for us.

• fund raising through sponsored running or walking, or maybe running a bake sale or suggesting that a club you belong to may want to nominate TNA as its charity for ongoing support?

As with any holiday period, for many, Easter time can bring an increased sense of isolation, especially when you are in excruciating pain and really feel unable to take part in various holiday activities. Be assured, you are not alone. Please, please feel free to make use of the helpline

0800 9991899 option 1.

One

of our team will be available to listen, to support you and to offer some words of encouragement, and advice.

For those of you who feel unable to speak because of your level of pain, please don’t forget that there is also the email helpline

, where a TNA volunteer will be able to read your enquiry and email you back.

‘Tea for TNA’

The idea of ‘Tea for TNA’ is that you may wish to host a Tea party for your friends, family, neighbours or work colleagues as an opportunity to meet together to raise awareness about Trigeminal Neuralgia and give a greater understanding of the excruciating, relentless pain experienced by so many.  This will also be a good way to raise some much-needed funds for the Association.

If you would like to take part in this initiative, please do let us know. We shall be able to send you a pack which will comprise a flyer and various other information – things that will help the event to run smoothly. It may be that some of your regional support leads are already planning to hold their own ‘Tea for TNA’ events.  As soon as we hear about these, I will let you know.

Just Giving

Charlotte Puge and her sisters have been holding a series of challenges for their Dad, who was diagnosed with TN.  He was unable to work or drive, eat or drink.  His MVD surgery was a success and now the four sisters will be completing 12 challenges – one a month – to raise funds for TNA.

With my very best wishes

Aneeta
