Press-up challenge to fundraise for Trigeminal Neuralgia

Pets at Home colleagues in Hartlepool will once again be undertaking a gruelling 14,000 press-up challenge this November. We are honoured that Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK (TNA UK) has been chosen as their charity.

At the age of 24 Robert was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Enduring excruciating pain, Robert said “It felt like my face was on fire and being electrocuted at the same time.” Combine that with earache, headache and toothache, Robert was on considerable medication just to try to help him sleep. Not even Carbamazepine, ibuprofen, paracetamol, Adadin and codeine gave the relief he needed and he resorted to holding freezing cold water in the side of his mouth. As a result, Robert killed two of his teeth which led to them having to be extracted.

Robert talks openly about this harrowing pain and the impact it has had on his life in his fundraising page. He also discusses the path to brain surgery and undergoing Microvascular Decompression to improve his life.

As Robert and his colleagues at Pets at Home prepare for this year’s press-up challenge for the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association, we thank his colleagues for the support they have given him. At his worst moments in work this has clearly meant so much to him.

Read about Robert’s tremendous journey, his battle with Trigeminal Neuralgia, and the incredible inspiration he receives from his family, including his wife Danielle, and daughter Freya, on his JustGiving page.

Please give generously to support Robert and help TNA UK continue to undertake their vital work against this disease. We will continue to follow the progress of Robert and his colleagues as they undertake this incredible challenge!
